Six Senses Con Dao Appoints Dominic Scoles as New General Manager

CON DAO, Vietnam – November 1, 2019 – Six Senses Con Dao is pleased to announce that Mr. Dominic Scoles has been appointed as the new general manager of the resort.

After graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in economics, Dominic decided to pursue his passion and turned it into his lifetime career. Having opened his first hotel at the age of 24 as director of nightlife for W Hotels, Dominic has since been a part of five hotel openings. He simultaneously took up the role of director of food and beverage, and headed up luxury properties in four countries around the globe including USA, Mexico, Turks & Caicos, Maldives and now Vietnam (a recent addition to his impressive list); with respected brands such as COMO, St Regis and W Hotels. Dominic prides himself on being a part of the team in two hotels winning the Forbes Travel Guide 5 Stars Award – St Regis Bal Habour, Florida, US and St Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort, Maldives; and the wonderful opportunity he had to handle some of the most outstanding events in his career like the NBA All Stars, Miami Music Conference, BPM Festival Mexico and ESPY Awards as well as the Oscars. With more than 10 years of experience working in the luxury hospitality sector, Dominic will bring a wealth of knowledge and extensive passion to his new journey at Six Senses Con Dao.

Dominic’s intriguing background saw him born and raised in Missouri, USA by his parents Patrick and Victoria. He was inspired by summers spent in the love of his grandparents who had been teaching him about hospitality from a very early age; from filling the fridge with his favorite preferences, customized activities planned everyday with “back up” weather options and ensuring every meal was made from scratch. They also taught him patience through hours of trout fishing, the value of being firm but fair, and the importance of being organized and always taking the time to put things back in their place. Dominic’s personal priorities are exercising the body & mind through meditation, family, travel, the arts and professional growth – all of which he believes, align him naturally with the hospitality industry and with Six Senses.

“I believe in a mindful approach to hospitality. I feel that the best way to learn and grow through travel is to first ‘seek to understand and then to be understood’. I believe to be a positive hospitality professional one must first take really good care of themselves, then” and only then, are we able to take care of others and deliver intuitive bespoke experiences.  I also believe that the foundation of hospitality is the ability to strengthen our own awareness.  If we are not present to those and the environment around us, delivering genuine hospitality is nearly impossible.” is how he describes his approach towards the core meaning of hospitality.

Moving from Maldives to Vietnam, Dominic firmly believes he is now right where he is meant to be. The differences in cultures and perceptions seem not to be a challenge but a chance to grow and move forward. According to him, the key foundation to a company’s success is a highly diverse team with diverse ideas where people feel safe to have open dialogue and aren’t afraid to fail. He looks forward to sharing many meals with the hosts at Six Senses Con Dao to learn more about their journeys and dreams so in the role of a leader, he will work relentlessly to support the passionate hosts while doing his best to motivate and encourage growth.
